What Our Students Say

“I want to become a police officer – that’s my biggest dream ever since I was little. I’ve never changed my mind, never wanted to go a different path – it’s always been that.
That’s why I joined here, because I can do the Apprenticeship after this Level 3 course. I’ve always wanted to do it and I’m chasing my dreams – I’m trying to make my family proud as well, not just myself, but I am making myself proud in the process and everyone here is helping so much.””

About Public Services

If you’re thinking of joining a branch of the emergency services or the military, our Public Services courses can help you prepare for a career serving and protecting others.

With our strong links to the West Yorkshire Police, the Army, the Royal Navy, West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue and West Yorkshire Ambulance Service, we can give you a real insight into the particular area you are interested in.

Taught in our Quarry Hill Campus, classes are delivered in modern, spacious rooms. In addition to the classroom, courses make use of immersive learning experiences such as gathering evidence from a mock crime scene, taking part in outdoor activities, completing entry-requirement fitness tests and riot training.

Teaching also takes place in the form of lectures, talks and trips. Guest speakers have included prison officers, police officers and firefighters. Previous trips have included visiting prisons and attending an emergency planning exercise with North Yorkshire Police, where students were able to meet officers from many departments including Dog Handling and Armed Response.

So, if you’re looking for a challenging but highly rewarding career, apply for one of our courses today to see how you could make a difference.
