We are looking for apprentices to join the business to build and assemble complex mechatronic systems while providing technical support across manufacturing, quality, production, assembly, and engineering functions.

Overview

This Level 3 Engineering Fitter apprenticeship provides the opportunity to gain practical experience assembling, testing and supporting the manufacture of complex mechatronic systems. The role involves working across engineering, production, assembly and quality functions, contributing to the development of innovative technology, including advanced bionic hands designed by Rebel Bionics and Cogent Mechatronic Ltd.

Apprentices will develop practical engineering skills by assembling mechanical, electrical and electronic systems, interpreting technical drawings and specifications, preparing tools and materials, and carrying out inspections and quality checks. The role also involves recording test results, maintaining technical documentation, helping investigate production issues, supporting installation and maintenance activities, and contributing to improvements in manufacturing processes while following health, safety and environmental procedures.

The apprenticeship is suited to someone who is methodical, analytical, committed and interested in engineering and technology. Good attention to detail, problem-solving, communication, teamwork and number skills are important for the role. GCSE English and Maths at grade 4 are essential, while a BTEC in Engineering at Pass grade is desirable. Alongside practical workplace experience, apprentices will complete the Level 3 Engineering Fitter qualification with Luminate Education Group, attending Leeds City College Printworks Campus one day per week. Potential career pathways include Production Support Engineer, Manufacturing Quality Engineer and Manufacturing Production Engineer.
