A rewarding opportunity to train as a Teaching Assistant to work under the direct instruction of teaching/senior staff to support the children/young people of Victoria Primary School.

Overview

This apprenticeship offers an opportunity to gain experience supporting pupils and teachers within a primary school setting while working towards a recognised qualification.

The role involves assisting with classroom activities, helping create a positive learning environment, and supporting children’s educational and personal development. Apprentices will combine practical workplace experience with structured training delivered by a local education provider.

Ideal candidates should have basic qualifications in English and Maths, strong communication skills, and an interest in working with children. A DBS check will be required.

The programme lasts around 18 months and may lead to further employment opportunities within education upon successful completion.

Training to be Delivered

Apprenticeships include time away from working for specialist training. You’ll study to gain professional knowledge and skills.

  • Apply strategies to support and encourage the development of independent learners.
  • Adapt communication strategies for the audience and context.
  • Apply behaviour management strategies in line with organisational policy.
  • Adapt resources to support all learners.
  • Communicate with teachers to ensure clarity of the TA’s role.
  • Apply teaching strategies to deliver learning activities or interventions.
  • Build relationships with learners, teachers, other professionals and stakeholders.
The apprentice will attend monthly classes at Leeds City College.
