Overview
This apprenticeship offers the opportunity to develop practical culinary skills while working towards a Level 2 Commis Chef qualification in a professional kitchen environment. The role combines hands-on experience with structured training, allowing apprentices to learn the fundamentals of food preparation, cooking techniques, food hygiene, health and safety, and general kitchen operations under the guidance of experienced chefs.
As part of the kitchen team, the apprentice will support the preparation and service of meals, help maintain clean and organised work areas, assist with stock management, and contribute to the smooth day-to-day running of the kitchen. The position also involves attending regular training sessions and completing apprenticeship coursework to build the knowledge and skills required for the qualification.
The apprenticeship is a part-time role of around 30 hours per week over approximately 21 months, with one day dedicated to off-site training. It is suited to someone with a genuine interest in cooking, a willingness to learn, good communication skills, and a reliable, professional attitude. Successful completion of the programme may lead to further opportunities within the organisation, including the possibility of a permanent role.
