Digital marketing apprentice, Leah Skotnicki, has proved to be a valuable team player after making a huge impact in a short space of time at a leading physical education company.

Huddersfield-based Sporting Age, which provides solutions to improve movement skills among young people, took on 20 year old Leah in September 2021 as their first apprentice digital marketer, with the aim of growing engagement online.

Leah, who is doing a Level 3 apprenticeship in digital marketing, works alongside a small team to develop content for day-to-day activities, as well as social media during seasonal events.

Since September, she has created innovative digital social media marketing campaigns, including video and captivating photos, all aimed at increasing engagement with potential partners and end users in education.

Leah said: “Most of my work is mainly capturing images, creating video/image content, and assessing analytics and review optimisation.

“I have learnt a lot in my time at Sporting Age. The team is very kind and supportive of my learning as well as my safety. My trainer, Nyla Ahmed is absolutely lovely, we get along very well and she has played a key role in my progression so far.

“My time management has improved and I have recently been inspired; working on my own editing projects have enhanced a lot of skills I use in my job. This has also led to the creation of an online portfolio which I regularly update in order to keep organised.”

Leah, who wants to become a content creator/editor in the future, encouraged women wanting to pursue a career in science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) to not give up on their dreams.

I’d like to encourage more women to work in STEM. From my own personal experience, I have a lot of fun, my role especially relates to a lot of my own interests and hobbies which makes my job very interesting.”
