Overview
This Level 3 Data Technician apprenticeship provides the opportunity to combine an interest in Rugby Union with practical experience in sports data analysis. The role involves collecting and analysing performance data from elite Rugby Union matches, helping to produce insights that can influence tactics, strategies, and the overall fan experience.
Apprentices will develop practical skills in handling, analysing, and interpreting data while working for a specialist Rugby Union data company. The role will involve identifying trends and patterns, checking data quality, combining information from different sources, and presenting findings clearly to support the needs of clients and other members of the team.
The apprenticeship is suited to someone who has a strong interest in Rugby Union, enjoys working with numbers and data, and has good attention to detail. Alongside practical workplace experience, apprentices will complete the Level 3 Data Technician qualification with Leeds City College, with the possibility of progressing into a full-time position after successful completion.

Training to be Delivered
- Develop practical data analysis skills by collecting, organising, combining and interpreting data from different sources.
- Learn how to identify trends, patterns, errors, duplicates and unusual results while maintaining high-quality and accurate datasets.
- Develop skills in using basic statistical methods and data tools to produce meaningful insights from Rugby Union performance data.
- Learn how to communicate and present data clearly to different audiences while producing accurate documentation and reports.
- Develop professional skills in teamwork, organisation, prioritisation, problem-solving and responsible data management.
- Complete a nationally recognised Level 3 Data Technician qualification alongside practical workplace experience.
