Overview
This Level 3 Early Years Educator apprenticeship provides the opportunity to gain practical experience supporting young children’s learning, development and wellbeing while working towards a nationally recognised qualification. Based at The Tots Team nursery in Leeds, the role involves working alongside experienced practitioners to create a safe, caring and stimulating environment where children aged 0–5 can learn through play, build confidence and reach their full potential.
Apprentices will develop practical skills in planning activities, supporting children’s physical, emotional, social and intellectual development, and observing and recording their progress. The role includes encouraging children’s independence and self-esteem, supporting personal care routines such as feeding, toileting and hygiene, preparing learning resources, and building positive relationships with children, parents, carers and colleagues. Apprentices will also learn about safeguarding, child protection, health and safety, inclusion and supporting children with different needs, while helping to maintain a clean and welcoming nursery environment.
The apprenticeship is suited to someone who is caring, patient, creative, organised, enthusiastic and committed to helping children learn and develop. Good communication, teamwork, problem-solving skills and initiative are important. Applicants must have GCSE English and Maths at grades 4–9 and a Level 2 Early Years Practitioner qualification at a pass grade. Alongside workplace experience, apprentices will complete the Level 3 Early Years Educator qualification with Luminate Education Group, attending college once a month at College House on Park Lane, Leeds, while learning on the job with support from a workplace mentor and line manager. Successful completion may lead to a permanent role as a Qualified Early Years Educator, with opportunities for further training and career progression.
