SPORT SCIENCE & EXERCISE, EXERCISE REFERRAL, LEEDS CITY COLLEGE TRANSCRIPT

Adam Lunn – “My name’s Adam Lunn, I teach at Leeds City College on the Exercise Referral qualification.”

Adam Lunn – “The modules that we cover on the exercise referral qualification are understanding medical conditions and instructing exercise referral with exercise referred clients.”

Scenery – A tutor and a student are having a discussion in the gym.

Adam Lunn – “One of the key parts to the course is actually understanding those conditions that are going to be referred to us as a personal trainer or as an exercise referral professional and it’s all about understanding how to cope with those clients that have got those long term conditions.”

Danielle – “The thing I like most about the course is training in the gym and getting to know about the clients and how to work professionally with them. When you go out into the real world it shows how you need to evolve around each client, how you need to learn from the clients and how you need to adapt for them.”

Scenery – A student is using dumbbells in the gym.

Scenery – Two students are having a discussion in the gym.

Scenery – A student is being filmed for an exercise referral assessment in the gym.

Adam Lunn – “This course can lead to a number of different opportunities, one which I actually took part in myself which is Level 4 cancer and exercise rehabilitation. So that is a qualification that I’ve got underneath my belt not just working with somebody that might have been referred for perhaps obesity or high blood pressure but also working with clients with those long term conditions such as cancers and rehabilitating clients back up to normal.”

Scenery – A tutor is doing a demonstration for the students on the correct use of the kettlebell.

Adam Lunn – “Other options include going on to Level 4 Strength and Conditioning, that kind of thing, it depends what you’re interested in. If you’re a personal trainer out there with a personal training qualification it’s how you set yourself aside from anyone else. How you can become the specialist, people more and more want to work with the specialist in that area so if you’ve got ambitions of being that specialist on the gym floor or want to be known then this is the right course for you.”
