What Our Students Say

“The decision that made me pick between here and other places was when I came to the open day everyone was just really friendly and open, and it just felt like a really welcoming environment to be in.”

Charli

“The tutors here, they are really interactive and they’re always there, even outside of lessons whenever you need something, we don’t go around calling everyone Sir or Miss, second names – we use first names for everything and there’s a more relaxed and friendly communication between the tutors and the students.”

About Preparation for Adulthood

This department offers a tailored curriculum that promotes self-sufficiency, community integration, physical and mental wellness, and career prospects. Every course features a flexible syllabus that caters to individual needs and aligns with the Preparation for Adulthood Agenda (PFA). Our facilities are designed with our students in mind, comprising medical storage, flat kitchens, assistive technology and adaptations – including tracking hoists.

The Preparation for Adulthood are ideal for individuals with disabilities, learning difficulties, or challenges managing behaviour and emotional regulation. Our courses aim to equip learners with the necessary skills to live more independently, and/or secure a suitable job in the future.

We offer a next steps employment course, where learners can enhance their job-related abilities. Our pre-internships give students the skills required to progress to one of our supported internships. These supported internships allow students to work for well-known companies, encouraging independence and autonomy.

Our courses are extremely personalised and are designed to support progression. These courses may be suitable if you have few or no formal qualifications.

With our supported internships, students have the opportunity to work for recognised brands such as Leeds City Council, Entertainer Toy Shop, National Express, and more.
