Will I need certain GCSEs?

Some courses may need you to have specific GCSEs at grade 4 or above. Full details of required subjects and grades will be explained when you speak to one of your department tutors.

What if I don’t have English or maths at GCSE?

It’s not a problem if you haven’t got your English and/or Maths GCSEs at grade 4. They can be built into your course alongside your subject.

Levels

Levels are used to describe how advanced a course is. You will find the levels with their entry requirements detailed below.

Although typically the more advanced the course, the higher the entry requirements, it is important to check the specific entry requirements for your chosen course, as courses of the same level may have different entry requirements.

Level 4

You typically need to have A levels
 or Level 3 Diploma or Access qualification.
 NVQ Level 3 may be accepted in some cases.

Level 3

You typically need to have five GCSEs or equivalent grade 9–3, including Maths and English minimum grade 5/4.

Level 2

You typically need to have 
three/four GCSEs grade 9–3.

Level 1

You typically need to have three/four GCSEs.

Entry

No prior qualifications required.
