Introduction

This qualification is developed for directors and senior managers who have the responsibility to translate organisational strategy into effective performance. This qualification requires managers to focus on the implementation of their organisational strategy.

This diploma is designed for strategic managers aspiring to develop their skills. Additionally, this qualification is the benchmark qualification for full CMI membership, taking you another step towards Chartered Manager status.

Please note that there will be an induction session one week before the start of the course.

  • CMI 714 Personal and Professional Development for Strategic Leaders: This unit focuses on developing the personal and professional skills necessary for strategic leadership, emphasising self-awareness, continuous improvement, and the ability to lead with vision and integrity.
  • CMI 701 Strategic Leadership: This unit explores the principles and practices of strategic leadership, highlighting the importance of setting strategic direction, influencing organisational culture, and leading with purpose to achieve long-term goals.
  • CMI 710 Marketing Strategy: This unit examines the formulation and implementation of effective marketing strategies, including market analysis, competitive positioning, and the alignment of marketing initiatives with overall business objectives.
  • CMI 704 Developing Organisational Strategy: This unit focuses on the processes involved in formulating and implementing effective organisational strategies, including environmental analysis, strategic planning, and the alignment of resources to achieve long-term business objectives.

Entry requirements

  • Educational Background: A relevant bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification. Strong skills in English and basic mathematics (Level 2 (GCSE level 4 or above) or equivalent) are required to effectively engage with course materials and assessments. Applicants not holding qualifications must complete assessments to demonstrate their competence.
  • Work Experience: Significant experience in a senior management or leadership role is required. This typically means around 3-5 years of relevant professional experience. Demonstrable experience in strategic planning, leadership, and management responsibilities is required.
  • Professional Role: Current or recent employment in a senior management or strategic leadership position is required to ensure the practical application of the skills learned.
  • Commitment and Motivation: A strong commitment to personal and professional development and a clear motivation to enhance strategic management and leadership skills are essential.
