Course Information
Introduction
Designed as a one-year, full-time course of study initially, with the option to continue studying for a second year in order to complete the full Sports Coaching National Diploma.
This course is equivalent in size to one A level with the added bonus of being able to enter the workforce directly as a multi-skilled assistant coach. Completing two years will give an opportunity to become a multi-skilled coach.

Work experience:
The course also requires 30 hours of work placement which will be completed either in a one-week block or over the course of the academic year.
You will be assisted with finding a placement but we recommend you have an input into finding a work placement which is linked to your future employment.
Course units/modules
There are three mandatory units in total:
- Developing coaching skills
- Health, wellbeing and sport
- Careers in the sport and active leisure industry
Entry requirements
The entry requirements for this course include four GCSEs at grade 4 including English or maths.
During the course you are required to complete at least 18 hours of independent study to back up the learning discovered in your classroom sessions.
