Introduction
The “Networking, Cyber Security and Emerging Technologies” T Level is an exciting and cutting edge technical qualification which has been created by employers and industry stakeholders. It has been designed as ‘career ready’ education, which explores the world of Computer Science & IT theoretically and practically, whilst giving students a vast industry placement. This will prepare students for the world of work, enhancing specific and transferable Digital & IT employability skills, recognised by employers and giving students the edge in an interview or University application.

Are you interested in starting a career as a Cyber Security Professional, Applications Technician, Infrastructure Technician, Digital Support Technician or IT Solutions Technician?
T Levels offer an exciting alternative to A Levels and Apprenticeships. The T Level will fully immerse you in industry informed live and simulated projects which give you the flexibility to learn how to manage projects and develop skills around software development.
You will develop knowledge and understanding of a range of different Computer Science, IT and employability skills subjects such as cyber security, problem solving, emerging technologies, digital and IT business environments, data and cloud & virtual environments, all of which are identified as key requirements by employers.
Year 2 of the T Level will consist of developing an occupational specialism of Digital Infrastructure, giving you the flexibility to tailor a project to your interests, whilst developing skills specified by large digital employers in digital infrastructure and networking.
The course will be run over 2 years, each academic year consisting of 38 weeks.
Who is this course for?
The course is for ambitious 16-18 year olds who want to pursue full time education, but still want to develop the key digital, computer science & IT skills and experience identified by small & large and influential employers.
Course units/modules
The Core Component (Year 1) consists of a range of topics regarding digital related knowledge and employer informed skills:
- Cyber Security and Testing
- Networking, Cloud and Digital Infrastructure
- Emerging and Future Technologies (VR, Drone Tech’, AI, Robotics, 3D Printing)
- Business and Legislation
- Data and Digital Analysis
- Culture, Diversity and Inclusion
- Project Management
The Occupational Specialism (Year 2) focusses on Cyber Security, Physical and Virtual Infrastructure/Networking (‘Digital Infrastructure’) and allows the development and practical use of employer informed skills such as:
- Applying procedures and controls to maintain the digital security of an organisation and its data
- Installing, configuring, testing and managing both physical and virtual infrastructures
- Discovering any industry standard short courses and information to thrive in the sector
Benefits and skills
- You will complete a 45 day industry experience where you will be fully integrated into a digital and IT employer, gaining real life skills, which are vital additions to your CV and UCAS applications for university.
- You will develop STEM skills needed in industry, such as problem solving, creative thinking, communication, data driven decisions, intellectual curiosity, flexibility and collaboration.
- You will gain industry skills through exciting live project work.
Entry requirements
5 GCSEs at Grade 5 or above, including English, Maths & Science
Available apprenticeships and progression options
- You will have the opportunity to progress to University, with excellent real life experiences to use in your application.
- Progression to a higher education course at our University Centre Leeds.
- After completing this T Level, this will support progression to entry-level job opportunities in Cyber Security, as an Applications Technician, Infrastructure Technician, Digital Support Technician or IT Solutions Technician.

Assessment types
All assessments are externally marked.
- Year 1 consists of 2 Exams and an Employer-Set Project.
- Year 2 consists of an Occupational Specialist Project.
