Introduction

Electricians install, maintain, and repair electrical systems in industrial, commercial, and residential settings, including new and green technologies, ensuring safety, compliance, and efficiency across a wide range of equipment.

Overview

Electricians install, maintain, and repair electrical systems across industrial, commercial, and residential environments, including communal areas. They work on systems up to 1000V AC/1500V DC and may be involved in commissioning, testing, and maintaining electrical equipment, including automation and renewable technologies. Their work includes designing systems, selecting materials, and using modern construction methods. Electricians operate safely and independently, indoors and outdoors, ensuring compliance with regulations such as BS 7671, Health and Safety at Work Act, and Building Safety Act. They contribute to sustainable practices and may work with smart, green technologies. Some may become self-employed once qualified.
