Introduction

Performing routine technical and scientific procedures and providing support in hospitals, GP surgeries, and other healthcare settings, Healthcare Science Assistants work with colleagues to support patient care.

Overview

Working in a variety of healthcare settings, such as hospitals, laboratories and clinical environments, Healthcare Science Assistants can be employed by the NHS or private organisations. Following procedures and strict safety and ethical protocols, their work supports patient care across all stages of life. Work includes, but is not limited to, preparation of equipment, performing of tests, handling data and managing stock. They work closely with healthcare professionals, patients and the public.
