Course Information

Introduction

This programme prepares students to become assistant accountants. An assistant accountant provides support to internal and external customers and will work predominantly either as an assistant accountant within an accountancy practice or within the finance function of an organisation.

Overview

With this apprenticeship, you will work as an assistant accountant. Part of this role will involve will involve assisting in the day to day financial activities such as data entry to month-end management accounts or year-end financial statements. In addition, you may be involved in regulatory financial requirements such as the completion of VAT returns or assisting in the preparation of tax computations.

    Assistant Accountant

    As an assistant accountant you will prepare monthly management accounts. In addition, you will produce profit and loss reports, undertake bank reconciliation, prepare annual budgets and produce reports on debtors and creditors.

    Purchase Ledger Clerk

    As a purchase ledger clerk you will match, check and code invoices. In addition, you will process payments via BACS and cheques. You will also set up new supplier accounts and work out VAT payments.
