Overview
The Apprentice Rugby Union Analyst role at Oval Insights is a Level 3 Data Technician apprenticeship that combines practical match analysis experience with structured college-based learning. The role focuses on collecting and analysing performance data from elite rugby union matches, contributing to insights that influence tactics, strategy, and fan engagement. Key responsibilities include working with data during live match situations—often on weekends—supporting analysis processes, and collaborating with a team to deliver accurate and detailed performance insights. Throughout the 24-month apprenticeship, the apprentice will develop strong analytical, IT, and problem-solving skills alongside technical data knowledge, providing a solid foundation for a career in sports analytics and data-driven performance environments.
