Overview
This Level 2 Administration Assistant apprenticeship provides the opportunity to gain practical experience working in a busy GP surgery while supporting patients and the wider practice team. The role focuses on providing a friendly and professional reception service, helping patients in person, by telephone and by email, and ensuring administrative tasks are completed accurately and confidentially.
Apprentices will develop practical administration skills while working with patient information, appointment systems and practice software. The role involves greeting patients, answering telephone calls, booking and rearranging appointments, supporting care navigation, processing prescriptions, updating patient records, scanning documents and assisting with audit data. Apprentices will also learn how to manage confidential information, follow practice procedures, maintain a professional reception area and work effectively as part of a healthcare team.
The apprenticeship is suited to someone who is friendly, patient, organised, non-judgemental and confident communicating with different people. Alongside practical workplace experience, apprentices will complete the Level 2 Administration Assistant qualification with Luminate Education Group, attending Leeds City College twice a month, with one session delivered in person and the following session online. Successful completion is highly likely to lead to a full-time permanent position, with potential progression onto the Level 3 Business Administration apprenticeship.
