“The studying here is really great because we get a lot of industry-standard products, like we’re doing the age of male characters so in our kits we all got three bald caps which obviously gave us one practice and two assessments, and we’re all using the Ben Nye cream paints which are really really good industry-wise, and definitely the airbrushes as well, and we all had a big workshop on the airbrushes so everybody knows how to use theirs, and we all have our own. The thing with this course as well is it gives you a lot of creative freedom, like we all get given a brief but it’s kind of ‘what do you want to do with the brief?’, and having all the products to back that up really helps us achieve that.”

Overview

The VTCT Skills Level 2 Certificate in Barbering is a qualification that has been specifically designed to develop your practical skills in; the creative art of cutting men’s hair, the specialist work of cutting facial hair and how to offer a good consultation service for clients.

Underpinning this qualification you will develop a sound knowledge of health and safety whilst working in the barbering industry.

You will also develop a knowledge and understanding of the practical skills learned throughout this qualification.

The purpose of this qualification is to develop your practical skills to a high level of occupational ability to enable you to perform your own salon services.

The legislations referred to within this qualification apply to UK learners. For learners outside of the UK, you should familiarise yourself with legislations that may apply to you.

Who is this course for?

This course is ideal for anyone looking to start a career in the barbering industry or develop the practical skills needed to work as a professional barber. It is suitable for school leavers, career changers, or those with little or no previous barbering experience.

You will learn essential barbering techniques, including cutting men's hair, shaping and trimming facial hair, and providing professional client consultations. The course also covers health and safety, industry standards, and the knowledge required to deliver barbering services confidently in a salon or barbershop environment.
