  • Apprenticeships

    Suitable for: Current employees, new hires (with our recruitment support)Levels: Equivalent to GCSEs, A levels, degrees, masters

    Apprenticeships are hands-on learning for people who want to work in a specific role from the start. They vary from entry roles to advancements for employers holding a current position. Apprentices are employed, paid a salary, and learn through on-the-job training (often with a mentor), with additional off-the-job training provided by us on campus or remotely.

    Essential apprenticeship information:

    • Apprentices will learn from a set of knowledge, skills and behaviours unique 
to the occupation – known as an Apprenticeship Standard
    • An Apprenticeship Standard can be adapted to meet the exact needs of your business. Where possible, we will support you and co-design a curriculum that fits
    • For an apprentice to complete their training and begin the role, 
they will be assessed against the agreed standard
    • Apprenticeships can be between one and six years, 
dependant on the occupation and level
    • We will support you in finding new apprentices to join your 
business, or in offering apprenticeships to existing employees

    Levels: Equivalent to A levels, diplomas, advanced technical certificate

    Available for adults aged 19+ without a Level 3 qualification or above, our courses cover fundamental and specialist areas that will benefit your staff retention and satisfaction while supporting economic, community and business growth.

    Essential Free Courses For Jobs information:

    • Courses are flexible and fit around existing work commitments, with online, blended learning and part-time options available
    • Exams will mostly take place on our campus
    • Subject areas include accounting, engineering and manufacturing, creative media, digital and IT, science, health and more
    • For employees to be eligible for Free Courses For Jobs, they must earn below £25,750 or not hold a Level 3 qualification (equivalent to 2 A Levels)
  • Higher Technical Qualifications (HTQs)

    Suitable for: Current employees

    Levels: Equivalent to foundation degrees, higher national certificates, higher national diplomas

    Higher Technical Qualifications (HTQs) have been approved against employer-developed standards – also known as Occupational Standards. This results in industry-led qualifications that are focused on occupational and technical knowledge, skills, and behaviours suited to a specialist role.

    HTQs offer your existing staff members training that could advance them to a particular role, opening up opportunities and progression within your business.

    Levels: Equivalent to 3 A Levels

    As an employer, a T Level work placement student provides an exciting opportunity for your current employees to develop leadership and management skills – particularly useful if you don’t currently have a formal line management training programme.

    Work placement students also breathe new life and fresh perspectives into your business, are eager to contribute, and will define your company as one invested in community and leading new-gen talent. They will spend 20% of their time in your workplace and 80% on campus in our classrooms, learning from expert and industry-versed tutors.

    Supported Internships offer work-based study to young people with an Education Health and Care Plan (EHCP), and learning disabilities or additional needs. Work placements are combined with tailored support from job coaches. Students also spend one day a week in college studying employability and, where appropriate, maths and English.
