Danish students gain invaluable insights into health and social care courses during trip to Leeds City College

Our School of Social Science recently welcomed a group of Danish students for an enriching visit aimed at fostering a cross-cultural understanding of healthcare and social services.

Organised in collaboration with Leeds City Council, the two-day trip provided the students with a unique opportunity to explore the differences between the healthcare systems of Denmark and the UK.

The visitors, many of whom are in their second and third year, began by gaining an overview of our curriculum system and the qualifications we offer.

They then took part in a T Level Health session where they constructed anatomy models, which allowed them to get a real feel for our courses’ structure. They also enjoyed participating in a teamwork activity for a paper fashion show.

Exploring East Leeds Recovery Hub
Following their time at the college, the students spent half a day at East Leeds Recovery Hub where they were welcomed by the council’s Adult Social Care team. This event included a tour of the facilities and the visitors also got to talk with service users, which gave them an extra insight into the organisation’s work.

Estelle Brewster, our Deputy Head of Health Science & Social Care, said: “We are delighted to have given these Danish students a holistic view of our health and social care courses and an insight into how the healthcare system works. This visit not only promotes cultural understanding but also encourages knowledge-sharing between healthcare professionals of the future.

“We are committed to preparing students for diverse healthcare environments. The visit also underpins the importance of international collaboration in shaping the next generation of healthcare professionals.
