Who is this course for?

Adult learners. We have online and in class courses. You can also choose between Deacon, Enfield, Eastgate and Horsforth to attend in class.

You will study a range of different topics including:

  • Understanding different types of schools and colleges and early years provision
  • The qualities and skills for working with children and young people
  • The role of the teaching assistant/early years practitioner/support worker
  • Communicating effectively with children and young people
  • Supporting positive behaviour
  • Supporting individuals with disabilities and special educational needs
  • Supporting children’s mental health and well-being

Assessment types

Learners will complete a portfolio of evidence. There will also be continuous assessment which includes written tasks and activities, case studies and project work.
