Overview
This qualification has been written for learners working or preparing to work in such a childcare role.
If you work in an environment where you have responsibility for the welfare of infants and children, then having the required paediatric first aid skills is absolutely vital to your role. Should the worst ever happen, it’s essential you know what to do in a safe and effective manner.
The qualification is valid for 3 years, after which it will need to be retaken. It is also recommended that learners refresh their knowledge annually.
Course units/modules
- The role and responsibilities of the paediatric first-aider
- Providing first aid for an infant or a child who is unresponsive
- How to administer first aid to an infant or a child with head and spinal injuries, who is choking or suffering from anaphylaxis
Entry requirements
We recommend learners are a minimum of 16 years of age. Learners, whatever their age, are physically capable of completing the practical assessment. It is also advised that learners have a minimum of Level 1 in English.
