Course Information

Introduction

This course is for you if you are passionate about the Earth and all it encompasses. With this qualification, you will acquire knowledge of fields techniques, lab techniques, pollution, water management and genetics, deepening your understanding of the environment and climate.

You will explore a variety of units across biology, chemistry, mathematics and environmental sciences ensuring you acquire the knowledge needed to succeed in the exciting science sector. Progression may include higher education options such as a relevant degree in geology, environmental sciences, ecology or marine biology.

The topics you study will span environmental sciences, mathematics, chemistry and biology.

Entry requirements

Two or more GCSEs at grade 4 or above including English and maths. You will also need a successful interview and should be aged 19 years or above.

Available apprenticeships and progression options

Progression may include a relevant degree such as geology, environmental sciences, ecology or marine biology to name a few.

Assessment types

You will be assessed via internal assessments in accordance with Certa’s policies. These include practicals (lab work), assignments, exams and reports. There are some presentations and alternative assessment methods that are decided upon based on the skills requirements of universities (for example literature reviews and academic posters etc).
