Course Information
Introduction
Before studying this course, you will ideally have studied the Level 2 Counselling Concepts programme as this course builds on the skills and ideas acquired. This course is perfect for those seeking a career change or additional skills. You will deepen your understanding of communication, empathy, and listening. You will also compare counselling with other forms of helping activities. Learners will complete this qualification with a comprehensive and full understanding of the following: Understanding the Context for the Use of Counselling Skills Understanding Counselling Theory and Using Counselling Skills Personal Development for Users of Counselling Skills In addition to these elements the course looks at the ethics and professional requirements of using counselling skills in a professional setting, equality and diversity. You’ll undertake experiential learning processes that include a high element of personal growth work. The course runs at both Quarry Hill Campus and Rothwell Campus and each session is 3 hours per week.
Undertaking this qualification allows learners to:
- Develop a repertoire of counselling skills at a consistent level
- Underpin these skills with an understanding of one major therapeutic model
- Increase your self-awareness and to be mindful of the impact that you have on people
- Demonstrate the achievement of knowledge and understanding of Counselling at level 3
- Achieve a nationally recognised Level 3 qualifications that is vocationally focused and assists in progression to the next level of learning

Cost: Approx £811 (payable at the start of the course). Student loan and fee waivers and are available if eligible.
Work Placement
There is no requirement on the Level 3 for learners to attend a work placement.

Who is this course for?
This course is for 19+ learners only.
Anyone who is interested in working progressing onto the Level 4 course to become a fully qualified counsellor and become BACP accredited, or anyone wants to work in a supportive role using the skills, personal development and knowledge required to offer emotional support in similar roles.
Entry requirements
Evidence of being able to work at Level 3 status (academically and practically).
Available apprenticeships and progression options
You can progress to the Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling. Higher education - BA
Skills and knowledge gained can be applied to a variety of supportive roles and/or any career where communication and listening skills are a desired requirement.
