Who is this course for?
HR Managers: Individuals currently working in HR roles who are looking to advance their careers and deepen their knowledge and skills in people management and development. Those aiming to move into more senior HR roles, seeking to build a solid foundation in key HR functions and strategic HR practices.
Course units/modules
- 5CO01 Organisational Performance and Culture in Practice: This unit explores the impact of organisational culture on performance, examining how to foster a positive culture that aligns with business goals and drives employee engagement.
- 5CO02 Evidence-based Practice: This unit emphasises the importance of making informed HR decisions based on data analysis, research, and evidence to improve organisational outcomes.
- 5CO03 Professional Behaviours and Valuing People: This unit focuses on developing professional behaviours and promoting inclusivity, ensuring all individuals are valued and treated with respect in the workplace.
- 5HR01 Employment Relationship Management: This unit covers the principles of managing employment relationships, including conflict resolution, employee engagement, and the legal aspects of HR practices.
- 5HR02 Talent Management and Workforce Planning: This unit examines strategies for effectively attracting, developing, and retaining talent, as well as planning workforce needs to support organisational success.
- 5HR03 Reward for Performance and Contribution: This unit investigates how to design and implement reward systems that motivate employees, recognising and rewarding performance and contributions to organisational goals.
- 5OS01 Specialist Employment Law: This unit provides an in-depth understanding of employment law, focusing on its application in HR practices to ensure legal compliance and best practice in managing employment issues.

Once you’re registered for a qualification, you’ll need to join the CIPD as a Student Member from the start of your studies. It’s essential to maintain your Student Membership until your studies are completed. Your CIPD membership and qualification work together to ensure your knowledge is recognised both inside and outside the People Profession. Through membership, you will be supported and encouraged throughout your studies. You'll gain access to extensive study resources and the opportunity to build your network through our local branches, online communities and student conferences. When you complete your qualification, you’ll be awarded CIPD Associate Membership, and the designation “Assoc CIPD” after your name. Entry requirements
- Educational Background: Applicants should have level 4/5/6 qualifications and strong skills in English and basic mathematics (Level 2 (GCSE level 4 or above) or equivalent). These are required to effectively engage with course materials and assessments.
- Work Experience: Applicants should be working in a management role within HR (minimum 3 years)
- Professional Development: A strong motivation to develop their HR skills and a commitment to applying these skills in their professional practice.
- Strategic Mindset: An interest in developing strategic HR capabilities to contribute to the overall success of their organisation through effective people management.

Assessment types
Learners will be assessed by a variety of means, primarily via written assessments; however there will be a variety of methods across each of the units. Assessments will include: Reports, Scenarios, Case studies, Presentations, Reflections on own experience etc.
