Student Profile - Lucy-Jane Weston
I left high school in 2006 at 16 and wasn’t really ready for studying so I decided to go into full time employment. Since then I have built up a career to the point where I have an Assistant Manager role. My employer was supportive and helped me to develop my skills both as a person and an assistant manager by putting me on two NVQ courses. After a while I started to feel like my job became more like ground hog day (the film) - Same thing day in day out and that’s when I decided I need to challenge myself a lot more so I looked for course that had a mixture of business and IT skills.
This course was perfect and I was also able to fit it in alongside my job. My employer has continued to be supportive and has helped me with research for my studies. When I started the 1st year, this course was brilliant and still is! It’s helping me develop new skills which I can apply to a day to day basis. I’m very pleased that I choose Leeds City College University Centre rather than any other university as there is much more involvement and activities rather than been sat in a lecture hall being talked at. After this course is completed I'm hoping to continue to develop myself in other areas such as web design.
