14-16 Alternative Provision & School Partnerships

At Leeds City College, we have a successful history of working in partnership with schools, including the city’s Specialist Inclusive Learning Centres, to provide a range of programmes to support, engage, and progress 14-16 year olds.

The outcomes for our students are excellent, with preparation for a vocational course pathway at the heart of everything we provide. We have outstanding year-on-year progression rates for students continuing on to further education, employment, and post-16 training.

School partnerships

These are one day per week accredited vocational courses for year 10 and 11 students in a range of curriculum areas including hair and beauty, hospitality, catering, and travel and tourism.

Alternative provision

This is a full-time provision for year 10 and 11 students, including specialist Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) support. Programmes of study focus on English and maths but are personalised and include vocational tasters to give students experiences to inform their post-16 pathways.

Elective home education

This provision is for up to 15 hours a week to access vocational courses for year 10 and 11 students.

Entry requirements

Full-time learners in years 10 and 11 cannot apply directly for Alternative Provision. We only accept referrals via school partners and the local authority. Elective home educated may apply directly via the college website.

Our post-16 option is for you if you are aged 16-24 and are unsure of your future. You will study a broad ranging vocational curriculum and then be given the opportunity to specialise in an area of interest. Each person’s pathway is highly personalised, so you will have the opportunity to take further qualifications or focus on areas that suit you.

Progression Studies

If you’re unsure of what’s next in your future, our supportive Progression Studies programme will help you make career decisions and set you on the path to success. This full-time course will explore different education and career options, allowing you to solidify your next steps. You will also improve your social, personal, and professional skills, ready for your future.
