Apprentice Trainee Chef – THAI LEISURE GROUP (LS1 4AG)
Overview
The expected working days will be 5 days out of 7 with varied start and finish times (including college) therefore flexibility will be required. There will be opportunity for overtime when the business requires.
The main responsibilities in this role preparing food, cooking food ensuring that all food is of excellent quality, cooked to spec and served in a timely manner. Following health and safety regulations is a must, enforcing safety and sanitisation standards in the kitchen at all times. Taking stock of ingredients and equipment, and placing orders to replenish stock with the head chef. Open to receive positive and constructive feedback to better performance, make improvements and enhance as an individual.

Apprenticeship and Training Details:
You are required to attend a pre-selection interview at Leeds City College before an employer interview.
13 months training then 3 months End Point Assessment
Mode of delivery:
Hospitality Team Member (Production Pathway)
By the employer, whilst working alongside your colleagues and college one day per week. Hospitality Team Member Level 2 Intermediate
Length of Programme 15 months (inclusive of 3 months end point assessment) Mode of delivery: day release at the Printworks campus.
All hospitality team members must have the following introductory knowledge:
- Understand what hospitality means the culture of the industry and why delivering a customer experience to meet and exceed customer’s expectations is so important to hospitality businesses
- Appreciate the importance of hospitality behaviours such as personal conduct, being adaptable, using initiative and communicating with a diverse range of people
- Know the range of businesses and establishments that make up the hospitality industry, their differences and similarities and the variety of job roles and progression opportunities that are available
All hospitality team members must have the following core hospitality knowledge, skills, and behaviours:
- Customer
- Business
- People
First line supervision / Team leading
They must then select from one of the following specialist functions:
- Food and beverage service
- Serving alcoholic beverages
- Barista
Level 1 functional skills in maths and English must be achieved prior to gateway and the learner must also attempt their level 2 maths and English exams.
Functional skills does not apply if the apprentice already holds a grade A-C/9-4 in both English and maths.

What You Need
Desired Qualifications
Ideally grade 3 (9-1) in maths and English. However, we will support the right candidate to achieve these qualifications.
Personal Qualities

The right candidate will have a strong desire to learn and develop, taking on feedback and willing to absorb information everyday. This role is a great for an individual wanting to move into the back of house industry and widen their food skills and knowledge.

Opportunities for progression will be available and cross training in multiple sites to experience our different restaurants will also be available.
