To undertake animal care duties on a day to day basis, providing high standards of animal health and welfare. To assist in the day to day running of the pet shop, including serving customers, replenishing and ordering stock and cleaning duties.

  • Check feeding, watering all shop animals and boarding.
  • Cleaning animal enclosures.
  • Handling animals.
  • Serving and assisting customers.
  • Replenishing stock as and when needed.
  • Routine cleaning duties, keeping the shop to high level of cleanliness.

Things to Consider

Will include heavy lifting. Weekends will be required.

Training to be Delivered

Animal Care and Welfare assistant Level 2

Functional skills in maths and English (if required).

Training will be provided either online or in college as a delivery methods from a Leeds City College assessor.

There will be Work Based Learning (WBL) visits from the college assessor as part of the apprenticeship.

Qualification will be Level 2 Animal Care and Welfare assistant which will enable the candidate to be fully qualified in Animal Care at Level 2.
