We’ve added some answers below, but the best way to get the
information you need is to attend our Q&A sessions.
Is Leeds City College a training college or a university?
Leeds City College is an FE (further education) college. The majority of our courses bridge the gap between school and degree level study or employment. We also offer adult courses, apprenticeships, Access to HE courses and A levels. Degree courses can be studied at University Centre Leeds – which is part of Luminate Education Group alongside Leeds City College.
Why should I choose Leeds City College over other colleges?
We’d always encourage you to choose the right option for you, however, there are lots of benefits to choosing Leeds City College. Aside from our amazing Big Welcome freshers’ event, exciting student trips (Alton Towers anyone?) and shiny new Quarry Hill Campus, we also have extensive industry connections, cutting-edge facilities including an air cabin, motor vehicle workshops, theatres and more, and we are rated Good with Outstanding features by Ofsted.
What student support is available?
We have a range of student support available to Leeds City College students. We have high needs and SEND support for those with an ECHP including exam support for those with additional needs.
We have bursaries and student fund support for those with financial difficulties including childcare. We also have academic support, coaching tutors, careers advice and support and support for mental health and wellbeing.
Are there rules on dress code, makeup, hair dye and piercings?
We encourage individuality so our students are allowed to wear makeup, have piercings and dye their hair. For dress code, our students don’t have to wear uniform (unless it is a requirement of their specific course) and many students wear casual clothing. We do ask that students ensure their clothing is still modest and appropriate for a learning environment.
