Cherry Fricker – Chair and Governor
Cherry is Director of Finance and Operations at the National Centre for Early Music. After graduating with a music degree she qualified as a Chartered Accountant, training in the Leeds office of a national accountancy firm.
Jonathan Booth – Co-optee
Jonathan is an experienced Change and Transformation Director with 30 years’ experience managing customer-driven change in commercial and public service environments. His key skills include customer insight and understanding, strategic and business planning, programme management, change management, leadership coaching, employee engagement, service improvement and culture change.
He has worked with many large private and public sector service organisations, particularly in the transport, business services and health sectors, delivering customer driven transformation for clients such as Amey, MTR, Augean, Serco, Romec, Abellio, Northern Rail, London Underground, Leeds Teaching Hospitals Trust, Doncaster PCT, NHS Yorkshire and the Humber and Emap.
Jonathan is educated to degree level, (BSc Geography, MSc Transport Planning) and is passionate about and actively involved in supporting enterprise in education through his work with Young Enterprise and the Ahead Partnership. He is also a Non-Executive Director of the City and Vale GP Alliance in York where he lives with his wife and two children.
Julie Drake – Co-optee
Julie is Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants England and Wales and the Higher Education Academy. A Principal Lecturer in Accounting, specialising in auditing, Julie has led strategic initiatives in education, including the development of foundation degrees and employer engagement.
She was previously Chair of the Joseph Priestley College Board of Governors and is a member of the Financial Ethics and Governance Research Group at the University of Huddersfield.
John Toon - Governor
John is a Partner with international legal services business DWF LLP. He has lived and worked in and around Leeds for over 40 years and first became involved with FE and HE governance in 2006 with Doncaster College. A passionate believer in the transformative power of education, John is also a lay trustee of Leeds Beckett Students' Union.
