At present, schools and nurseries are not taking volunteers due to Covid-19 restrictions, therefore it is currently not possible to meet the workplace requirements for vocational qualifications. In response to this, we have created an exciting framework of knowledge-based qualifications that you will study online. The framework enables you to develop an understanding of the knowledge, skills and experience required to work as a teaching assistant in a primary or secondary school.

Course Information

The framework develops your understanding of the roles and responsibilities of a teaching assistant in a school. You will learn about supporting learning in the classroom as well as developing your understanding of behaviour management, how to safeguard the wellbeing of children and young people and health and safety policies and procedures. The framework is studied online, enabling you to benefit from flexible learning at a time and pace suitable for your own needs. You will gain valuable qualifications which will enhance your CV and future career opportunities. You will be supported online by experienced tutors who will help to guide you through your learning programme. Full training will be given to enable you to access the learning experiences provided online.

Entry Requirements

There are no formal entry or experience requirements, however you will need to be at Level 1 for literacy.

Career Progression

Progression may include Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools Level 2. All students progressing onto vocational qualifications will need an enhanced DBS.
