Aimed at students with learning difficulties and disabilities, this course aims to increase life and independence skills while also developing skills for work. The pathway includes aspects of independent living and developing skills for work. Students will work with local businesses to gain work experience. While progressing through this programme, you will develop your English and maths as well as your computer skills. The knowledge and experience gained from this course will prepare you for later in life. You will also keep a portfolio of your work and achievements and will be able to complete a certification where appropriate.

Who is this course for?

Foundation Studies courses are suited to anyone with disabilities, learning difficulties, or difficulty managing emotions and behavior. Our courses support you with progression by providing you with the skills needed in adulthood, specifically aimed at greater independence, supported living, and work related learning. Our courses are based at Joseph Priestley Centre, Beeston or Vine. We also run a next steps employment course that is based at a central site. This is an opportunity for learners to develop their work skills.
