Sewing Machine Skills – City and Guilds Level 1
This is a structured course for beginners which will help you develop your sewing machine skills and get a lot out of your machine.
Course Information
A range of stitches, threads, needles, fabrics and basic attachments will be used to create different decorative effects such as: Simple machine embroidery techniques, Basic sewing techniques such as zips, piping and seams as used in soft furnishings and dressmaking, and introduction to simple patchwork skills.
Assessment types:
You will produce a personal portfolio of your Sewing projects which will be assessed against the criteria.

Entry Requirements
There are no formal entry requirements for this course but you should have basic English and Maths and be able to follow instructions. You will also need to to have completed a basic Sewing Machine introductory course.
The course is delivered at Deacon House. Introductory material is available. You will be encouraged to bring some of your own resources to fully benefit from the course.
