IT Functional Skills Entry 1 and Entry 2 – Deacon House

IT Functional Skills will help learners to study the use of ICT in a partcail way. Students will learn how to use technology, computers and other digital devices in their home and work life, allowing them to build confidence and simplify everyday tasks. The course covers a broad range of IT knowledge and students will learn through an online platform, which they can complete in their own time.

This course is available at two levels: Entry 2 focuses primarily on professional digital skills, with a secondary focus on utilising these skills at home. The emphasis for Entry Level 3 is on developing digital skills for life and introducing learners to the different work scenarios where these skills may be required.

This course is aimed at adults to help improve basic technology skills and increase their understanding of the digital world.

This course consist of 6 modules, and the main themes explored include:

• Using ICT software for specific tasks
• Using search techniques successfully online
• Managing information safely online
• Develop editing skills
• Develop presentation skills
• Choosing the right software to complete a task

• New skills – how to use ICT equipment (PC, laptop, etc)
• New skills - sending and receiving emails
• New skills - communicating online
• New skills - Searching the internet
• New skills - using and developing presentation skills
