Covering the most common emergencies, you’ll learn how to treat injuries, dress wounds and handle everything from allergic reactions to stings, poisoning, choking, seizures, CPR, hypothermia and more.

Course Information

You’ll gain a broad understanding of the field, including canine emergency
first aid skills, knowledge of when to call in the vet, how to dress wounds, a
clear understanding of who can administer canine emergency first aid and the
classification of emergencies.


Ideal for people already working in canine-related industries – dog groomers,
trainers or kennel assistants for example. This course gives you exactly the
right blend of practical skills and theory to deal with canine emergencies.

Students can travel from East Leeds to Temple Newsam via the FlexiBus and it
will bring you directly into the estate. The bus can be ordered 1 hour before it
is required and operates between 7am- 7pm Monday – Saturday. Fares start from

short walk from the bus stop to the college buildings.


Campus bus:


The campus bus will run from Leeds bus station directly to Temple Newsam
every day. It will cost £5 per week and is only bookable once the learner
enrols.


By train:


Temple Newsam is located 1.9 miles from Cross Gates train station, an
approximate 35-minute walk.


By car:


From the M1 take junction 46. Temple Newsam is a short drive from this exit,
there is on-site parking available.

Learners who complete this qualification may wish to undertake further studies within the department such as the Dog Walking and Pet Sitting for Professionals iPet Award Level 3. You can even undertake a full-time animal management course.
