This vocational qualification is designed for 19+ learners seeking a career as an employed or self-employed hair stylist. The units covered teach you all the skills and knowledge required for this specific job role. You will work on external clients in commercial sessions. You’ll develop specialist knowledge and skills in colouring, lightening, cutting, dressing, shampooing, and conditioning the hair and scalp. You’ll also learn how to consult with clients, promote products and services, and follow health and safety practice.
Course Information
We’re pretty sure that you know exactly what a hairdresser is. Also known as hairstylists, they specialise in cutting, colouring and styling people’s hair in a way that complements their features such as skin complexion and face shape in order to enhance their overall appearance.
There is so much more to being a hairdresser than just cutting or styling hair. The basic hairdresser job description includes responsibilities beyond hair treatments such as maintaining the cleanliness of the salon and equipment, looking after the inventory of hair products, collecting payments and ensuring that the clients receive exemplary customer service in an orderly and timely manner.

Who is this course for?
This course is ideal if you want to develop your skills, and work towards gaining professional certification in the Hair sector this course will provide you with the skills needed to become a professional hairdresser. You will learn a wide range of treatments and practice them on real clients as well as learning the principles of operating a salon.
You will also learn how to cut, style, and dress hair to create a variety of looks. In addition, you’ll learn how to provide consultation support, promote and sell products, and follow health and safety procedures.
This course also supports you in developing your self-esteem and includes careers guidance and skills such as how to apply for jobs and do well in an interview.
