The Flexible Start courses are located at Somerville House, a small campus with on-site vocational facilities. If you are interested in one of the below subjects, are a young adult aged between 16-24 and aren’t in education, employment or training, these short courses can help you re-enter education, build key skills and gain work experience.

Course Information

Sample a vocational subject such as art, sport, business or customer service, whilst developing key employability skills. These courses will help you develop your English and maths, improve your problem-solving and team building abilities, and provide you with increased confidence for future work or studying. You will also have the opportunity to further cement your skills through on-the-job training, and will be supported in your career progression or transition to wider college by the Inclusive Provision team.

Who is this course for?

These courses are for anyone wishing to re-engage with education whilst building their skills. They are particularly ideal for those interested in art, sport, business or customer service, and for learners who may be nervous about studying at college due to their specific needs. Students can also be referred to these courses throughout the year.

Units / Modules

Students will work towards a mixture of small qualifications, non-accredited courses and maths and English qualifications.

There are no entry requirements for this course, but students will be asked to complete a maths and English assessment so we can place them on the correct pathway.
