Early Years Practitioner Apprenticeship Level 2
As an apprentice, your job role will depend on your employer and the
environment they work within as caring for children can occur in a wide variety
of settings. On this apprenticeship, you will assist children with their learning and
development. Whether you are new to the industry or would like to further
develop your skills, this apprenticeship will take your childcare skills to the
next level.
Course Information
There will be a mixture of theoretical and practical activities to develop you throughout the course including one-to-one discussions, research tasks, videos and other interactive activities. You will attend college once a month.
Assessment will take place via written work submitted in your electronic portfolio and practical observations carried out by your assessor. Practical competence will also be observed by your assigned mentor in the work setting.
Units / Modules
As part of this apprenticeship, you will study the Early Years Practitioner Diploma Level 2. You will learn about all aspects of children’s care and education through theory lessons with your college assessor.
The units you study may include:
- Introduction to communication
- Introduction to equality and inclusion
- Safeguarding the welfare of children and young people
- Supporting positive behaviour
- Supporting children and young people at meal or snack times
Additionally, you will have the opportunity to develop your functional skills in English, maths and ICT ready for the workplace.
Entry Requirements
You must have a good standard of spoken and written English and a minimum of Level 1 qualifications in English and maths or equivalent.
Additionally, Either you will have completed a relevant Level 1 qualification in childcare or a related field, or you will have some relevant experience of childcare. You will need to demonstrate that you are a responsible person with the skills and qualities needed to care for young children.
You must also currently be employed in the early years sector.
Career Progression
Progression may include the Early Years Educator Apprenticeship Level 3 or relevant employment.Similar Courses
