This programme involves providing technical support for the construction, rehearsal, presentation and removal of a live performance.

Course Information

With this apprenticeship, you will provide technical support for the construction, rehearsal, presentation and removal of a live performance for an audience or camera. You will play an active role in the technical operation across a variety of established creative venues such as theatres, arts centres and broadcast studios. You will need to be multi-skilled and possess a broad range of knowledge relevant to the sector in which you are employed.

    Career Progression

    Stage Technician

    As a stage technician you will install rigging, sound equipment and scenery for stages in-line with layout specifications. In addition, you will assemble props, operate light and sound equipment during rehearsals and maintain the safety of event attendees.

    Theatre Technician

    As a theatre technician you will be responsible for the smooth running of the technical aspects of the theatre’s daily operating. In addition, you will be responsible for the rigging and setting up of equipment, will promote a culture of safety and will attend production meetings as required.
