Certa Access to HE Manufacturing Engineering

Engineering offers the opportunity to learn new and transferable skills that are in demand locally, nationally and worldwide. The course will develop skills and knowledge that will allow you to bring together engineering elements in assignments and projects related to the needs of the engineering sector. Access courses allow students to progress to university degrees after one year of study at College. The Access programme provides you with the relevant knowledge and study skills you’ll need if you’ve been out of education and want to successfully complete a degree course.
Course Information
You will experience a specialist Access Engineering Programme, with a strong sector-related emphasis on practical and research skills alongside the development of knowledge and understanding. As you progress through the course, you will not only gain technical knowledge but also other skills such as presentation and communication, research, leadership and management skills.

You will study:
- 45 credits graded at Level 3 in subject-specific Engineering modules
- 15 credits ungraded at Level 3 in Academic Study Skills modules

- Engineering Drawing / CAD (6 credits)
- Selecting and Using Programmable Controllers (6 credits)
- Electrical/Electronic Principles (6 credits)
- Mechanical Principles (6 credits)
- Further Mathematics for Engineering (6 credits)
- Materials Science (6 credits)
- Engineering Research Project (9 credits)
Academic Study Skills modules may include:
- HE Study Skills (9 credits)
- Introduction to Engineering Mathematics (6 credits)
