The Pathway enables you to develop an understanding of the knowledge, skills and experience required to work as a teaching assistant in a primary or secondary school.

  • NCFE/CACHE Level 2 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning
  • NCFE/CACHE Level 2 Certificate in Understanding Behaviour That Challenges

Course Information

The Level 2 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning has been designed to provide learners with an understanding of the knowledge and skills needed when working directly with children and young people in school or college environments. It covers a wide range of areas including children and young people’s development, supporting children and young people’s positive behaviour and communication and professional relationships.

Assessment Types

Continuous assessment which includes written tasks and activities, case studies and project work. You will be assessed on your understanding of the knowledge required to be a teaching assistant and demonstrating the skills within a school or college.

Entry Requirements

Aged 19+

Voluntary or paid work in a school or college.

Full enhanced DBS ( we can organise this for you)

Literacy level 1 or above.

Career Progression

Qualifications/Careers in school as a teaching assistant.

You may progress to NCFE/CACHELevel 3 Diploma in Supporting Teaching and Learning.
