The Pathway enables you to develop an understanding of the knowledge, skills and experience required to work as a teaching assistant in an adult learning or community setting.

The courses you will study are:

  • NCFE/CACHE Level 2 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning
  • NCFE/CACHE Level 2 Certificate in Understanding Behaviour That Challenges

Course Information

The Level 2 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning has been designed to provide learners with an understanding of the knowledge and skills needed when working directly with adults in school or college environments. It covers a wide range of areas including supporting maths,English and ICT,communication and professional relationships.

Assessment Types

Continuous assessment which includes written tasks and activities, case studies and project work. You will be assessed on your understanding of the knowledge required to be a teaching assistant and demonstrating the skills within a school or college.

Entry Requirements

Aged 19+

Voluntary or paid work with adult learners ( we will help with this)

Full enhanced DBS ( we can organise this for you)

Literacy level 1 or above

Career Progression

Qualifications/Careers working as a teaching assistant with adult learners.

You may progress to NCFE/CACHELevel 3 Diploma in Supporting Teaching and Learning.
