In this Level 2 qualification, you will develop the technical skills to
create, produce and promote music and you will gain an understanding of roles
within the music industry. This BTEC Level 2 Diploma is an intermediate qualification for post-16
learners who want to specialise in a specific occupation, occupational area or
technical role. It prepares learners for work or an Apprenticeship by giving
them the opportunity to develop sector-specific knowledge, technical and
practical skills, and to apply these skills in work-related environments. The
qualification also provides progression to Level 3 Tech Level qualifications.
All units are assessed through internal assessment. Internal assessment is

- Professional Development - You will explore professional development needs and present a professional development plan.
- Self-promotion in the Music Industry – You will develop a professional identity and produce promotional materials.
- Music Production – You will develop a music project using a digital audio workstation and develop professional practice.
- Sound Engineering – You will develop techniques in using sound engineering equipment and use sound equipment for a specific purpose.
- Music Project – You will apply your skills to develop, refine and realise music in response to a commercial brief.
