This is a one-year, fast-tracked music course designed for adult learners who would like to develop music technical skills, and academic skills, in order to progress to Higher Education.


Who is this course for?

The course is for students over 19 years old who are passionate about the music industry and want to develop their skills in music technical skills, such as music performance and music production.

The course is ideal for those who have been working in the industry at any level and want to go to university to study their subject in more depth or for adult learners who have left education and have no qualifications. It is also suitable for those who are thinking of changing careers.

Benefits / Skills

You will benefit by working with music industry-standard equipment in our Quarry Hill campus, using a range of music software for different purposes, and utilising professional techniques for studio recording. You will also be able to develop an understanding of live sound and how it differs from the recorded sound.

In music performance, you will acquire ensemble skills, performance techniques, and composition skills. You will obtain a practical and theoretical understanding of musical harmony as well as learning how to promote your compositions and yourself as an artist.

You will also learn key academic skills that will enhance your understanding of critical thinking and writing in preparation for university. The course is one year in duration which is a fast-track approach to progression into Higher Education.

Entry Requirements

You need appropriate experience and GCSE at grade 4 in English/ Maths or level 2 qualifications to access this programme of study.
