This qualification not only prepares you for university study, but also gives you the chance to apply your learning in practical ways so that you can respond collaboratively and positively to challenges in your community and society. In this course, you will draw from your own life experiences and will study units that help you to understand the social, political and economic environments which affect and are affected by social action efforts. In addition, you will learn how to manage social action projects effectively.

In this course, you will reflect on your own life experiences and will study units that will help you to understand the social, political, and economic environments which affect and are affected by social action efforts. In addition, you will learn how to manage social action projects effectively. This course covers subjects such as social policy, sociology, business, economics, politics, and psychology. You will also study units in academic writing and research and develop some of the key skills needed for higher education.

Entry Requirements

There are no formal entry requirements for this course but your written English and reading comprehension will be assessed. Previous practical experience in the field of social action and prior learning may be credited against some units.

Career Progression

Upon completion, you can progress to the Innovation and Skills for Social Change BA (Hons) at Leeds Beckett University. You will also be able to apply for courses at other universities, most of which accept access to HE diplomas. You could study relevant subjects at degree level such as sociology, social policy and social work. You are advised to do some research into university courses and entry requirements.
