Public Services

Do you want to work in the community? Or gain employment in the police, fire, ambulance or prison services, or even the armed forces?

Public Services

For those wanting to prepare for a life in the public and uniformed services, you will experience hands-on, the physical and mental demands of the sector and the standard expected of potential applicants.

Our strong links with the armed services, police and fire as well as with local professional sports clubs ensure your studies provide a real insight into your particular area of interest, equipping you with the essential skills to succeed.

Benefit from visits to HM Prisons, Fire Stations and training with the West Yorkshire Police Dog Handlers. Participate in public order training with West Yorkshire Police and attend presentations from guest speakers including Local MPs. You may also have the opportunity to volunteer for Leeds City Council Emergency Planning Department.

Former students have gone on to study Law at university and entered work as Prison Officers, Police Officers, Armed Forces, Paramedics and Fire Fighters.

Jobs

The emergency services and armed forces are back open for recruitment.

After a number of years with recruitment on hold as a result of public sector spending cuts West Yorkshire Police, West Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service and the Armed Forces are now seeking new recruits. Now is the ideal time to enrol on a PS course to ensure you are well prepared for the selection and recruitment processes of these services amongst others.
