How you will be assessed

Academic skills units are assessed on coursework. Units in Biology, Chemistry, and Mathematics are assessed by a mixture of coursework and formal examinations in preparation for university degree courses. All work is internally moderated and externally moderated by assessors from the awarding body Certa.

Entry requirements

You must be 19 years of age or over as of 1st September the year you start the course. GCSE’s at four or C and above in Maths and English. A good base knowledge of Science at level two is recommended (BTEC or GCSE). 

 

What's next

The Access to HE Science diploma is widely accepted by universities for entry to a variety of degree programmes.

Our students progress to universities including Leeds. Leeds Metropolitan, Newcastle, Teesside, Salford, Huddersfield, Bradford, York, Bournemouth, Aberystwyth, Liverpool John Moore, UCLAN, Bristol, Leicester, Sheffield, Nottingham among others.  Leeds City College also offers Biomedical Science programmes leading to the Award of FdSc in Pharmaceutical and Chemical Sciences or Biotechnical Sciences.
