Healthcare Clinical Support Apprentice

What is the Clinical Support Worker Apprenticeship?

12 months

Hours:
37.5 (varied shifts)
– Assist with daily living activities
– Record observations
– Document care in patient notes
– Preparing ward areas

Qualifications you will gain:

  • Level 2 Diploma in Clinical Healthcare Support
  • BTEC Level 2 Extended Award in Work skills for Effective Learning and Employment
  • Functional Skills in Maths and English at Level 1

Support and Care

If you’re looking for a role where you can care for patients and support colleagues in their care for them then the Clinical Support Worker Apprenticeship could be just right for you.

With a thorough three week induction programme preparing you for working on a ward, through to the completion of the course this varied and vital role will equip you for life as a Clinical Support Worker (CSW). Tasks are varied and will depend upon the ward you on but you will assist the nurses and other CSWs care for patients.

With the potential to lead to a permanent position and from there opportunity to progress onto the Level 3 Senior Clinical Support worker apprenticeship, this is an ideal way to get started in the NHS, making a positive contribution to the lives of patients and those who care for them from day one.

Healthcare Business Administrator Apprentice

Qualifications you will gain:

  • BTEC Level 2 Diploma in Business Administration
  • Functional Skills in Maths, English and ICT Level 1
  • Personal Learning and Thinking Skills Level 1

Not all NHS roles are clinical – clerical and administrative roles are crucial to the smooth functioning of the NHS, underpinning all the valuable work undertaken by clinical staff. If you’re looking for an administrative role within the NHS, the Business Administration apprenticeship will give you the grounding you need to succeed.

On successful completion of the apprenticeship, within the given timescale, you will be offered a permanent Band 2 role within the Trust. From here you can progress further with plenty of opportunities to gain more experience and qualifications, such as the Level 3 Business Administration Apprenticeship. Facilities Technician Apprentice

What is the Facilities Technician (Patient Environment) apprenticeship?

13 months
Location:
Based at Leeds General Infirmary or St James’s University Hospital (with possible requirement to work across sites)
Hours:
30 (varied shifts)
– Provide a range of services including cleaning and catering
– Assist in transporting patients and equipment around sites
– Aid infection prevention by ensuring the environment is kept clean
– Act as a friendly point of contact for patients and visitors

Qualifications you will gain:

  • Level 2 Healthcare Cleaning Operative
  • Level 2 Certificate in Food Safety
  • Level 1 qualification in Maths and English

A varied and vital role, as an Apprentice Facilities Technician (Patient Environment), you will gain valuable experience working within a hospital. From the provision of catering and cleaning, to transporting patients and equipment, you will perform a number of important duties around the hospital.

Upon successful completion of the apprenticeship not only will you have secured valuable qualifications, you will have the potential to secure a permanent Band 2 Facilities Technician position within the Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.
